Russian vaccine shows effectiveness against new strain of coronavirus terrorising Europe

The Sputnik V vaccine developed by Russian scientists can cope with a new strain of coronavirus that has caused a stir in European countries.

As News Front reported earlier, the new strain of the virus forced the British authorities to introduce a strict quarantine in London and other parts of the country. At the same time, European countries have restricted communication with Britain, where the isolation could provoke shortages of food and even medicine.

Russia also intends to temporarily restrict air links with the United Kingdom. However, a Russian vaccine has already shown effectiveness against the new strain of the virus, said Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

“Sputnik V is highly effective against the new mutation of the virus found in Europe. It is as effective against it as it is against existing strains,” he said.
