UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is convening a government meeting to discuss international travel as well as the flow of goods across the border
“The Prime Minister will chair a COBR [emergency response] meeting to discuss the international travel situation, in particular the smooth flow of goods to and from the UK”, – the PM’s press office said.
Transport Minister Grant Shapps, for his part, urged Britons not to obstruct the ports in the county of Kent in the south of England, warning that “serious disruption is expected there”.
As News Front previously reported, a strict quarantine has been imposed in parts of the United Kingdom, as well as London, following the discovery of a new strain of the coronavirus. Many countries have halted air links with Britain due to this.
EU countries also imposed a number of restrictions on the kingdom as British companies tried to stockpile products before the end of the Brexit transition period. For example, France, which is linked to Britain by the Eurotunnel, has banned all transport links between the countries since Sunday evening.
