UK extends sanctions against Belarusian authorities

The blacklist was added up with 29 individuals and 7 entities, including Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Natalia Kochanova, Prosecutor General Andrei Shved, Information Minister Igor Lutskogo and Deputy Prime Minister Anatoli Sivak.

The UK Treasury said in a statement that London had joined similar measures imposed by the EU.

The sanctions, which imply freezing of bank accounts, were also imposed on the head of Belteleradiocompany Ivan Eismont, chairman of Hrodna Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Karanik, and businessmen Alexander Shakutin and Nikolay Vorobey. In addition, the restrictions were extended to the state-owned Economic Department, Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant, 140th repair plant, Beltechexport, Sinesis, Dana holdings and Agat – Electromechanical Plant. British businesses are prohibited from doing any business with them.
