Deliveries via the new segment of the pipeline will start on January 1, 2021 and will fully replace Russian gas supplies to Serbia via Ukraine
According to Interfax, the Serbian section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline system has started to be filled with gas.
“The Turkish Stream gas pipeline, which carries Russian gas across the Black Sea to Turkey and on to southern Europe, started operating in January 2020. Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and Macedonia were the first countries to receive gas. The construction of the 474-kilometre section through Bulgaria to Serbia was delayed for a year by the courts between the builders and the pandemic”, – it said.
Deliveries through the new section of the pipeline will start on 1 January 2021 and will fully replace Russian gas deliveries to Serbia via Ukraine. Later, Turkish Stream gas should reach Hungary via Serbia and then Austria.
