Media: US military base near oil field in Syria hit by rocket fire

According to Al-Hadath TV, US troops are working with Kurdish fighters to clear the area around the oil facility

Several rockets exploded on Thursday inside a US military base in the northern Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor. According to Al-Hadath TV channel, the rocket hit a US military camp located near the Al-Omar oil field.

According to the channel, US soldiers, together with Kurdish fighters from the Coalition Democratic Syrian Forces (SDF), are now clearing the area around the oil facility.

On 19 August, a US base near the Konoko field in Deir ez-Zor was hit by mortar fire, with no US military or Kurdish casualties reported at the time.

Since 2015, the US has established just nine military bases in northeastern Syria. Four of them are near the oil fields in Deir ez-Zor and five others are located in the neighbouring province of Hasakah.
