President of Belarus said that Minsk intends, in particular, to focus on the development of the common economic space in the CIS
Belarus advocates the strengthening of integration mechanisms within the CIS framework and intends to focus on the development of common economic space during the presidency in the Commonwealth in 2021. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko speaking at the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State on Friday.
“The main focus will be on the development of a common economic space, trade liberalization, reducing restrictions and exemptions to a minimum, removal of technical barriers, unification of rules and procedures for public procurement, the formation of common markets of goods and services”, – said Lukashenko.
The Belarusian president is convinced that the strengthening of integration mechanisms in the post-Soviet space is “not a matter of choice, but an inevitable necessity. Lukashenko believes that “we can only speak of the benefits when we unlock the full potential of our Commonwealth.
“This will be one of the main priorities of the Belarusian chairmanship in the CIS next year, if we make an appropriate decision here, which has already been agreed”, – said Lukashenko.
He believes it’s necessary to continue improving the coordinated transport policy and finding specific solutions to the supply of energy resources within the CIS framework. “We see the need to improve the efficiency of inter-branch bodies of the CIS to intensify investment activities, expand production cooperation, find common points of economic growth,” said Lukashenko.
