In addition, restrictions on the broadcasting of Russian TV channels will be lifted in the republic
Moldovan President Igor Dodon said on Friday he had signed a number of laws, including a law on languages that restores the status of Russian as a language of inter-ethnic communication, as well as amendments to the audiovisual services code to lift restrictions on the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in the republic.
“Promulgated a number of important laws that citizens have been waiting for. <…> The law on the functioning of languages in Moldova, which provides for the restoration of the status of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication, as it had been for more than two decades, until the Constitutional Court declared the law obsolete and recommended the adoption of a new one,” he wrote in his Telegram-channel.
Dodon noted that he had also signed a law amending the audiovisual services code.
“Censorship on TV channels is abolished and news broadcasts of Russian TV channels, as well as other TV channels whose broadcasting has been banned so far, will soon return to the TV screens of Moldova”, – he stressed.
