US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Russia is a “challenge” for the United States in cyberspace.
Pompeo believes that Russia is constantly “using cyber potential against the United States”. Earlier it was reported that a group of hackers, supported by a foreign government, gained access to the US Treasury system and obtain their data.
“I’m not sure that Russia has become more aggressive. This is something permanent […] They tried to spoil our elections in 2008, 2012, 2016. In 2020, we dealt better with them by fighting back. This is a real challenge […] We urged them to stop this malicious activity. But they are a real challenge”, – said Mike Pompeo.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the hacker attacks on the United States, said that Russia had nothing to do with it. The Russian Embassy in the United States also called the accusations of the American media baseless.
