The peacekeepers distributed more than two hundred humanitarian kits to the most needy families in the city of Martakert, RIA Novosti reports.
“Deliveries are going according to plan. The delivery to the most needy people of Nagorno-Karabakh is carried out in accordance with the instructions of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation”, – said Colonel Igor Sivakov, head of the Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties.
The kits include food, household chemicals, personal hygiene items and baby food. In total, Russian peacekeepers delivered about 12 tons of humanitarian aid to Karabakh.
“Our city suffered especially heavy damage. This was facilitated by shelling, bombing from the air, and drone attacks. Now both the region and the city are recovering, we are trying to heal the wounds after the war”, – said Deputy Head of the Martakert District Administration Nelson Atayan.
According to him, first of all, people who lost their homes during the hostilities apply for humanitarian aid. Elderly people and women with children also apply for help. Atayan believes that generally speaking, “peaceful life is returning to its usual course”.
