The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine is preparing options for increasing electricity tariffs for the population in 2021. According to one of the proposals, on average, the cost of light can increase to 2.1 hryvnia per kW* hour (now an average of 1.1 hryvnia).
In total, the department is considering three options for increasing:
The first is to cancel only the preferential tariff at the initial stage. Now, with the consumption of the first 100 kW* hour, you need to pay only 90 kopecks for each. They can also cancel the “night” tariff (from 23 nights when installing two-zone meters, the price is two times lower). If such a decision is made, 150 kWh will rise in price from 174 to 252 UAH.
The second option is to increase tariffs by 30%, to an average of 1.4 hryvnia for each kW* hour. This option was also voiced by the National Commission on Energy and Utilities. At the same time, this will not solve the general problem and the population will continue to pay less than the cost price. For example, now you need to pay 174 hryvnia for 150 kW* hour, and after such a rise in price – about 226 hryvnia.
The third option is to immediately raise the price to the cost price level. Now about 2.1 hryvnia for each kW* hour. In this case, for 150 kW* hour you will have to pay 315 hryvnia instead of 174 at once.
