The transit period of 2020 in the US has become reminiscent of the events of four years ago: only now China has taken the place of Russia.
No sooner had Biden been fully engaged in the procedure for obtaining power than he was immediately put in an uncomfortable position. The liberal press suddenly started writing about corruption investigations into Hunter and James Biden – in the context of their business ties with the Middle Kingdom.
Then came the “honey trap” scandal organised by Chinese intelligence agents for Democratic lawmakers. One of the victims who fell into this trap was Eric Swalwell, a “young and promising” congressman from California and a member of the Intelligence Committee.
Well, now there has been a “sudden” leak of nearly two million members of the Chinese Communist Party. It turns out that several Communists are employed by the American consulate in Shanghai. And their party comrades are on the payroll of Boeing, Pfizer and Qualcomm corporations.
A veritable “Chinagate” is brewing, along the lines of “Rushgate”, but now the witch-hunt will be conducted not against “Russian agents” but against “Chinese conspirators” accused of trying to steal US military and medical secrets and to recruit American politicians.
Russia will still be on the agenda in Washington – take the attack on the US Treasury and Federal Reserve servers, which was quickly blamed on “Russian hackers”.
But it will be China that will be the main scapegoat – and everyone associated with it will come under attack, possibly including Biden’s family, which has already been the subject of four criminal investigations).
The trade war with China initiated by Trump will be a convenient way to expand it into a geopolitical, cold war or even a “hot war” – depending on how far the “deep state” is capable of going.
