Russian and Armenian defence ministers discuss situation in Nagorno-Karabakh

Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan, who is on a working visit to Russia, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu discussed the violation of the ceasefire in Karabakh.

This was reported by the Armenian Defence Ministry’s press service.

“On December 12, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, violating the requirements of the trilateral statement of November 9, by accumulating additional personnel, military equipment and heavy artillery, attacked the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd in the Hadrut region of Artsakh [unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic – note]. The Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan, who is currently on a working visit to the Russian Federation, discussed this issue with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu,” the press service said.

The defence ministry of Armenia stressed in a statement that “the actions of the Azerbaijani side endanger the fragile peace achieved through the direct efforts of the Russian president.”

Earlier it was reported that representatives of the headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping forces, following an incident of firing of automatic weapons in the Hadrut district of Nagorno-Karabakh, had conveyed to the parties to the conflict the demand to observe a full ceasefire.
