The Foreign Ministry commented on the new US sanctions against Russia

New US sanctions are far-fetched and not backed up by evidence, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“The next portion of the restrictions, as has long been established among the Americans, is far-fetched and not backed up by evidence. This is a clumsy PR move aimed at imposing an image of Russians as “human rights violators” on the international community”, – a comment posted on the website of the Russian diplomatic departments says.

As the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation noted, the authors of the new restrictive lists are not too fancy.

“They managed to bring under restriction a whole football club, well known outside of Russia. I remember that once the Moscow pool “Chaika” was on the forbidden lists – obviously, because it is located in Moscow near the Crimean bridge. Sometime we will ask our American colleagues what exactly from the geography of our country inspired them with the idea of ”taking care of a football club”, – she stressed.

Earlier it was reported that the United States added the Akhmat football club from Grozny and the Hero of Russia Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation to the sanctions lists. In total, 13 people and six organizations fell under the sanctions related to the Magnitsky list and Yemen.
