During the traditional weekly briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova noted that the United States is again trying to act as a “protector” of believers around the world.
Answering the question of the Bulgarian editorial office of News Front about the inclusion of Russia on the “watch list” for violations of religious freedoms, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the United States is thus continuing a policy based not on law, but on rules.
“Washington has been trying for several years to act as a “protector” of believers around the world. There are a lot of reports on this topic, which are stamped in the USA. A kind of “system of assessment” of the policies of certain countries in this direction has been invented there.
In the same context, there are attempts to give legitimacy to certain international associations as “global regulators” of the delicate religious sphere, whose guidelines in the foreseeable future may become binding on the member states of such associations. In essence, such a course is a continuation of a policy based not on law, but on rules. In this regard, we do not see the need to somehow react to such another American venture”, – said Maria Zakharova
