The Prime Minister and the Cabinet have now received the status of “acting”.
As TASS writes on Friday, the press service of the Georgian government reported that the Georgian government had resigned due to the start of the new parliament.
“The government has resigned. From now on, the prime minister and the entire cabinet are the acting ones”, – said a press officer.
According to the constitution, the Georgian parliament has two weeks to approve a new government. If this does not happen, the president will dissolve the legislature and call early parliamentary elections. According to preliminary data, the ruling party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” intends to re-nominate Giorgi Gakharia for the post of Prime Minister, who has been heading the Cabinet since September 2019.
