Mane Gevorgyan, Press Secretary of the Prime Minister of Armenia, commented on the statements made in Baku by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“We strongly condemn the provocative statements made by the leader of Azerbaijan in Baku today. Voicing territorial claims against Armenia seriously calls into question Azerbaijan’s readiness to establish peace and purposefully jeopardizes regional peace and security”, – Mane Gevorgyan said.
A spokeswoman for the Prime Minister added that the statements of the Azerbaijani President that Azerbaijan resolved the Karabakh conflict by military means “once again show who is the initiator of the war and the use of force and who is trying to lead the region through further destabilization and testing”.
“These statements make the international recognition of the right of the Artsakh Armenians to self-determination more than relevant as a way to prevent new genocidal aspirations of Azerbaijanis against the Artsakh Armenians. These statements are contrary to the spirit of the November 9th trilateral statement. Conversations with the Armenian people from a position of threat are reprehensible and cannot lead to lasting stability in the South Caucasus”, – Mane Gevorgyan emphasized.
She also noted that “the glorification of the architects of the Armenian Genocide, the ideologists of the Young Turks” by the President of Turkey is also sharply reprehensible.
“Such manifestations call into question Turkey’s statements, including its readiness to contribute to regional peace and stability”, – said the press secretary of the Armenian Prime Minister Mane Gevorgyan.
