Johnson and von der Leyen, following hours of negotiations that ended on Thursday night, stated that so far the UK and the EU cannot overcome a number of controversial issues.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, the British media, citing sources on Downing Street, write that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have agreed to determine by next Sunday whether there is a chance to conclude an agreement on the relationship between the parties after Brexit.
“There is an agreement that a clear decision on the prospects for negotiations should be made by Sunday”, – said the interlocutor of British journalists.
Currently, the so-called transition period before the final exit of the UK from the EU is close to completion. The parties are trying to agree on the principles on which they will build relations from the beginning of 2021, when Brexit becomes a reality.
