On December 8, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the draft military budget for fiscal year 2021 (started on October 1).
The total budget of the project is over 740 billion dollars. For the basic needs of the Pentagon it is envisaged $635 billion, for the implementation of national security programs through the Ministry of Energy – more than 26 billion dollars, for operations abroad – 69 billion dollars.
The defense budget project also includes expansion of sanctions against Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines. It also provides for mandatory limitations with respect to Ankara due to purchase of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) of C-400.
The draft military budget, which was approved by the US Congress on Tuesday, envisages over $250 million for military aid to Ukraine.
Soon, the draft defense budget should be considered by the US Senate. In case it is approved by the upper chamber, it will be submitted to the president for signature. The current head of the White House, Donald Trump, has promised to veto the document because of the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Ethics Act, which protects technology companies from legal action for moderating and removing user-generated content.
