Pompeo believes in the possibility of normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia

The US Secretary of State believes that many countries in the region will join the so-called Abraham Agreements in the future.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo is convinced that in the future Saudi Arabia can reach agreements on normalising relations with Israel. He said this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, the text of which was distributed by the US Foreign Office.

Pompeo was asked whether he considered such agreements between the parties achievable. “I firmly believe that they are,” he replied. “They have a common understanding of what is strengthening peace and stability in the Middle East,” the US Secretary of State added. – This is what pushed the people of the UAE, the Bahrainis and the Sudanese to normalize their relations with Israel.

The U.S. foreign policy chief believes that many states in the region will in future join the so-called Abraham Agreements on the normalization of Arab-Jewish relations. “There will be a lot of obstacles, a lot of hindrances, it is obvious that it is impossible to predict when [this will happen],” he stated.

On 15 September in Washington the documents on the normalization of Israeli relations with the UAE and Bahrain were signed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then called the reconciliation of the Jewish state with these two Arab countries “a turning point in history”, which “as a result will help put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict once and for all”.
