Andrei Ivanov, Director of the Strategic Analysis Centre at the Institute for Innovative Development, told EAD daily that China and the US are now actively fighting for the labour force in South-East Asia
“Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and other countries) is today the only large region with about 800 million people and a promising labour potential, where specialists can be trained in a fairly wide range of activities: from the simplest to the most complex modern production facilities. Everything is being done there now – from textiles to smartphones”, – Ivanov said.
According to the expert, the States and China are actively fighting for these manpower. “Each of these centres comes up with its own ideas. Purely economically, China is bribing with money, investments, and the Americans are trying to dominate, including through their culture”.
“While Washington is busy doing business, Beijing is actively investing in new projects, and its current economic partners understand that the Celestial Empire is actively developing and is the only country that will show a plus in 2020. Today China is the only country that can take everyone else out”, – the expert believes.
