Expert: Berlin will “desperately fight” for Nord Stream-2

Director of the Institute for Political Studies Sergei Markov, in an interview with RT, told why Berlin will fight for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, despite Washington’s obstacles.

“Access to cheap and stable Russian gas allows German companies (and they are the core of European business) to make their products more competitive and, therefore, to conquer markets”, – Markov said.

According to him, the US sanctions on the gas pipeline are in fact aimed directly at Germany, since there is serious competition between the US and German corporations for world markets. Markov believes that thanks to Nord Stream-2, the German industry will receive “stable, cheap and environmentally friendly sources of energy”.
