Maia Sandu intends to negotiate with Russia on gas debt

President-elect of Moldova Maia Sandu announced her intention to hold talks with the Russian Federation on the issue of gas debts, FAN reports.

Sandu previously stated that Moldova would not pay debts for gas used by residents of Transnistria. According to her, such a problem should be discussed directly with Moscow.

The State Duma reacted harshly to the unwillingness of the newly elected President of Moldova to pay debts for gas.

“If this is not her country (Transnistria – approx.) […]. The gas is not yours, the people are not yours, but bring the peacekeepers out. What do you want then? Make human slaves? And plow and sow on them like slaves”, – commented Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
