The US Department of Defence noted that the Democrat’s aides “went directly to the Pentagon’s intelligence services” and not to the agency itself
Pentagon officials believe that the transition team of US President-elect Joseph Biden has violated previously agreed procedures regarding the transfer of authority to the new administration and access to data. This was stated in an article published on CNN’s website on Monday.
The Washington Post reported last week that the current US administration refused to approve a meeting between Biden’s transition team and Pentagon-controlled intelligence agencies. Representatives of the US Department of Defense later denied these claims. They stated that the agency was cooperating fully with Biden’s aides. The Pentagon specified that on Monday and Tuesday the Democrat team is expected to meet with representatives of the US Department of Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, National Office of Military and Space Intelligence and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.
According to CNN, “some Pentagon officials have blamed the delay on how the Biden transition team organized the meetings. The U.S. Department of Defense noted that Democrat aides “went directly to the Pentagon’s intelligence services,” rather than to the agency itself. According to the channel, the US Department of Defense considered it “a violation of the power transfer agreements agreed with Biden’s entourage.
“There’s nothing we can do if they can’t familiarize themselves with the structure of organizations,” said a Pentagon official. “This was more of an internal problem for the Biden team than a problem for the US Department of Defense,” said another Pentagon official.
The general election in the USA was held on November 3. According to estimates by leading American media, Biden secured the support of more than 270 members of the electoral college whose votes he needed to defeat incumbent President Donald Trump. The U.S. General Administration’s Office of General Affairs de facto recognized Biden as President-elect and notified him in writing of his willingness to provide his team with the budget needed to start accepting and handing over cases as part of the upcoming inauguration of the next American leader. Trump, who did not admit defeat, essentially ordered the transfer of power to Biden, although he made it clear that he intended to continue litigation in an effort to prove his election victory.
