Caracas called on the US to recognize the failure of Venezuelan politics instead of criticizing the elections

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said that the results of the Venezuelan National Assembly elections will not reflect the will of the Venezuelan people, because the vote was rigged

US policy towards Venezuela has failed completely, and Washington must accept this fact. A statement was made by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza in response to criticism of the parliamentary election process in the Republic by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

“The zombie is talking! Although, according to his boss, the elections in the USA were rigged. Calmly and humbly accept the truth: in Venezuela, you have failed completely. I hope that very soon diplomacy will return to the State Department and the White House”, –  the diplomat wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Earlier Pompeo said that the results of the Venezuelan National Assembly elections will not reflect the will of the Venezuelan people, because he said that the vote was rigged.

The polling stations for the Venezuelan parliamentary elections opened on Sunday at 06:00 local time,  with 227 parliamentarians to be elected by the Venezuelans. There are 14,000 candidates from 107 political forces running for seats in parliament.

Opponents of the current government, led by Juan Guaydo, who currently control Parliament, have repeatedly accused the authorities of irregularities in preparation for the elections. This has led to 27 opposition parties, including Democratic Action, Justice First and People’s Will, deciding to boycott the December elections. However, individual representatives of these political forces are still participating in the race.
