Biden has promised to seek hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy

The US President-elect called on the current US administration of President Donald Trump and Congress to take “immediate action” on such measures

Upon taking office, US President-elect Joseph Biden intends to work with legislators to allocate hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy in the wake of the pandemic and to help Americans. The Democrat said this at a press conference in Wilmington, Delaware, on Friday.

Biden called on the current US administration of President Donald Trump and Congress to take “immediate action” on these measures. In addition, the Democrat noted that “they will not be enough”. “The US Congress must act again in January,” he explained.

The policy was asked whether the financial aid he intends to seek will be in the trillions or billions of dollars. Biden replied that the question was about “hundreds of billions of dollars”. “I think that people are aware that this is absolutely necessary,” added the Democrat.

Months of negotiations between the White House and legislators on these measures to stimulate the economy and help the population reached a dead end in late August. A new version of the emergency stimulus package for the American economy was presented in the US Congress on Tuesday. The bill was prepared by a group of Senate members from both the Democratic and Republican Parties. Congressional Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat from California) and Chuck Schumer, the leader of the democratic minority in the Senate, supported the initiative on Wednesday and proposed it as a starting point for consultations. Mitch McConnell, the Republican Majority Leader in the Senate, did not support this version of the bill, but proposed his own.
