In the near future, it is planned to return the post of Special Representative of the US Department of State for Ukraine, which was held by Kurt Volcker in 2017-2019. This was announced by Oleksiy Arestovich, a freelance advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine on strategic communications in the field of national security and defense.
“There is strong support, so far informal, from Britain and the United States. The conversation is about the fact that there will be a new US special envoy for the Donbass, that is, this post is institutionally returning. There are several statements by the Foreign Ministries of France and Germany that Ukraine is making strong consistent steps to fulfill the agreements, but Russia is not doing this”, – Arestovich said.
He also pointed out that the next administration of US President-elect Joe Biden is already considering the possibility of imposing tougher sanctions against Russia.
“A lot of people in the future Biden’s administration say informally that sanctions will be imposed on Russia, which will not restrain, but cripple and break the country. Many people say that for every death of our soldier it is necessary to open artillery fire”, – Arestovich added.
