Turkey expects that the new American administration will be ready to resolve the situation with the republic’s acquisition of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems through dialogue. This was stated on Thursday by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at the Mediterranean Dialogues conference organized by the Italian Institute for Political Studies with the support of the Italian Foreign Ministry.
“The situation with the S-400 arose during the previous administration of the US President Barack Obama. Presidents of Turkey and the US Tayyip Erdogan and Donald Trump had a good and frank dialogue and discussed all the problems <…>. We offered the United States to form a working a group on S-400 with the involvement of NATO, but they rejected our offer <…>. We expect that this administration or the new administration will be ready to solve all problems through dialogue, without threatening with sanctions”, – the Foreign Minister stressed.
