Contrary to US sanctions – Germany told when construction of Nord Stream 2 will resume

The German authorities are preparing to complete the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the near future, thus sabotaging Washington’s sanctions measures

According to Der Spiegel, construction work is scheduled to resume in December, a year after the construction was frozen. According to media reports, the Waterways and Shipping Authority in Stralsund has already notified the ship captains of the start of construction work south of the Adlergrund shallow water in the Baltic Sea. It is here that both branches of the pipeline end, which run from the German commune of Lubmin towards Russia.

Work will begin next Saturday, which cannot but provoke a reaction from Washington. The United States has been trying for a long time to disrupt the construction of Nord Stream 2.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the US authorities are already planning to introduce a new package of sanctions on the project. The restrictions may come into effect as early as December. Presumably, they will be aimed at enterprises that will re-equip the Akademik Chersky pipe-laying vessel, as well as companies responsible for insurance, testing and certification of Nord Stream 2.
