Parliamentarians in Iran have called for an end to the application of the additional protocol and restrictions on the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the country after the murder of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizade, said Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA.
“In connection with the assassination of the Iranian scientist, IRI parliamentarians called for an end to the application of the additional protocol and restriction of the IAEA inspection activities in Iran. The motives are understandable, but emotions do not always help to find the right solution. The additional protocol is in the interests of everyone, including Tehran,” he wrote on Twitter.
As the Iranian media wrote, on the afternoon of November 27, Fakhrizade was moving around one of the squares in the village of Absard in Tehran province. As a result of the incident, one of the scientist’s guards was injured four times. Fakhrizade himself was taken to hospital by helicopter, but he was not saved.
