The European Union condemned the terrorist attack in Iran, in which nuclear physicist Mohsen Fahrizade, who led the research centre of the Ministry of Defence, and several other people fell victim. This was stated in a statement issued by the EU Foreign Affairs Service.
“On 27 November in Iran, an Iranian government official and several civilians were killed in a series of attacks. This is a criminal offence that runs counter to the principle of protecting human life behind which the European Union stands. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. At this time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever for all parties to remain calm and exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid an escalation that is not in anyone’s interest”, – the communiqué states.
