According to the Russian senator, Belarus is suspended between the fatigue of one part of society from the past that lasts in the present and the uncertainty of another, probably the biggest part of society, in front of the future, connected with promises of European integration.
In his Telegram channel, the well-known publicist historian Aleksey Pushkov reflects on the prospects for the European integration of Belarus on the example of Ukraine and Moldova.
“The Ukrainian example – especially, but the Moldovan example of such “integration” also looks very dull: there is a lot of media foam and shouts of “independence” with complete dependence and lack of prospects. In addition to the unpersuasiveness of the opposition leaders, Lukashenko’s socio-psychological resource lies precisely in this lack of confidence in the best and confidence in the high probability of the worst in case of “regime change”. But he cannot change: politically he is a complete personality”, – Pushkov believes.
