Merkel announced plans to seek closure of EU ski resorts in the coming winter

According to the German Chancellor, restrictions in the country due to the coronavirus are likely to remain in force in January

The German authorities intend to push for the closure of all European ski resorts in winter due to the coronavirus at EU level, although some countries, such as Austria, are unlikely to agree. This was stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday in a government statement in the Bundestag.

“The ski season is approaching. We will try to agree in Europe on the possibility of closing down all ski complexes”, – she said. –  “Unfortunately, when you hear the statements from the Austrian side, you realize that it is not easy to achieve this, but we will try again”, –  added Merkel.

During Merkel’s words about resorts, there were disapproving shouts from the Alternative for Germany faction. At the same time, Bundestag Chairman Wolfgang Schaeuble did not have to adjourn the meeting, just as Merkel did last time in Parliament.
