Chinese Foreign Minister highly appreciated the role of South Korea in strengthening peace in the region

Wang Yi noted that Beijing attaches importance to its relationship with Seoul and seeks to support it in its fight against the coronavirus

China and the Republic of Korea are working together to strengthen peace in the region and develop economic cooperation. This was announced Thursday by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi before meeting with his South Korean counterpart Kang Gyeong-hwa in Seoul, where he arrived on Wednesday with a three-day visit, reports Yonhap.

According to him, the two countries “are making a significant contribution to maintaining peace in the region by promoting regional economic integration and supplementing the system of global leadership. Wang Yi stressed that the bilateral relationship “demonstrates strength and tremendous vitality.

“My visit to South Korea against the backdrop of an ongoing coronavirus pandemic aims to demonstrate the importance that Beijing attaches to its relationship with Seoul and support it in fighting the infection”, –  Wang Yi added. He praised the assistance provided by the Republic of Korea to China during the pandemic.

Kang Gyeong-hwa responded that Wang Yi’s visit reflected the high level of cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries. She noted that during the talks, the foreign ministers plan to “exchange views on further steps to implement bilateral strategic partnership.
