Annegret Kramp-Carrenbauer therefore called on NATO to strengthen its defence capabilities and to speak from a position of strength
German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer argues that the threat from Russia has become more pronounced, and therefore NATO must strengthen its defence capabilities and speak from a position of strength. She said this on Wednesday in her speech in the Bundestag.
“The fact that the Russian side has invested heavily in modernising its armed forces, that it has new weapons, and that the threat has become more evident”, – says Kramp-Karenbauer. – “I recommend negotiating on this topic with colleagues from the Baltic States, Sweden, Central and Eastern Europe”, – she said.
“We must strengthen our position,” the Minister said, calling for negotiations with Russia on issues such as disarmament from a “forceful position”. This has always been a good position for German foreign policy, and it must remain so in the future,” said Kramp-Karenbauer.
