The programme aims to promote the rule of law and freedom of expression, strengthening the capacity of Turkish media and civil society to defend human rights and freedoms.
The U.S. also plans to help the Turkish media identify “erroneous and false information”. The American Embassy in the Republic will be responsible for this initiative.
According to Gazeta.ru, citing RT, the U.S. State Department intends to launch a programme that will strengthen “democratic values” in Turkey.
“These activities should aim to establish personal, educational and business ties between the peoples of Turkey and the United States and encourage a positive perception of the importance of relations between the two countries”, – the text of the document says.
In addition, the United States wants to work with Turkey in the fight against terrorism and in strengthening the economic prosperity of the country.
