Buses with security officials and special equipment were sent to the center of Minsk in connection with the protest action, which the opposition plans to hold today, on November 22, TASS reports.
Fences have already been put up on Independence Square, the passage to it is closed. Security officials are on duty in the neighboring streets. There are water cannons not far from the building of the Belarusian State University. The movement of vehicles on the central streets is carried out without restrictions, but directly on the avenue there are many traffic police crews.
Today the opposition is organizing its protest action in an unusual format. The participants were asked to gather at noon in their yards, and then move together to the collection points, of which there are about several dozen. From there, the opposition intends to merge into columns and organize a march of many thousands.
The protests of the Belarusian opposition began on August 9, after the last presidential election, which was won by Alexander Lukashenko, who received more than 80% of the vote. However, the opposition continues to stage protests, claiming that the victory belongs to housewife Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
