Lavrov called “unacceptable” for the agreement on Karabakh

The ceasefire agreement in Karabakh is an uncontested way of resolving the situation in the region, attempts to question it are unacceptable, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during his visit to Armenia.

The head of the Russian foreign policy department noted that the document allows solving all issues related to Karabakh, including the return of refugees and humanitarian aspects.

Moscow, for its part, encourages international organizations to more actively help the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh and actively work with them.

“It was recognized by all (participants in the negotiations in Armenia – ed.) that this statement is an uncontested way of resolving the situation, which acquired a very, very acute character a few weeks ago”,- RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.

He noted that “attempts to question this statement not only within the country, but also abroad, are unacceptable”.

The parties to the talks, he said, reaffirmed their determination to do everything to make this statement work.

“The Armenian leaders – we also met with the President of Armenia – both he and the Prime Minister stressed that this statement helped to solve the most serious problems, helped to save lives. And they are fully committed to the implementation of this agreement in the future”, – the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

On November 10, the Kremlin press service issued a joint statement by the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on a ceasefire in Karabakh from the same day. Azerbaijan and Armenia undertake to stop hostilities, stop at occupied positions and exchange prisoners of war. Yerevan must return the Kelbajar, Lachin and Aghdam regions to Baku.

In addition, 1,960 Russian peacekeepers, 90 armored personnel carriers, 380 pieces of equipment are being brought into the region. They are located in Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.

On Saturday afternoon, it was reported that the first humanitarian convoy of the Russian Emergencies Ministry had arrived in Karabakh.
