The Azerbaijani President believes that the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Karabakh is an important factor in stabilizing the situation.
As TASS reports, receiving on Saturday a delegation led by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that he was sure that there would be no serious violations of the ceasefire in Karabakh.
“We welcome the deployment of the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation, which works in working contact with our structures, and, as far as we know, with the Armenian side. I believe that this is an important factor in stabilizing the situation, and since the signing of the (trilateral) declaration, there have been no serious violations of the ceasefire. And I am sure that it will not happen”, – the head of the Azerbaijani state said.
Aliyev called the trilateral statement signed by the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia on November 9 on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh “a very important political document, which essentially puts an end to the long-term confrontation”. He recalled that the Azerbaijani army entered the city of Aghdam last Friday.
“Thus, the points of the statement are being fulfilled”, – the president stressed.
