These funds are intended for humanitarian support to people affected by the conflict

The European Union has provided €3 million in emergency aid for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh affected by the conflict. This was stated in a statement issued by the European Commission (EC) on Thursday in Brussels.

“The European Commission has announced an additional €3 million in humanitarian support to provide vital assistance to civilians most affected by the conflict in and around Nagorno-Karabakh. This funding is in addition to the €900,000 allocated since the start of hostilities in early October”, –  says the EC.

On 9 November, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, which began on 27 September. According to the agreement, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides will stop at occupied positions, and 1,960 Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region.
