The trend towards a certain autonomy from the USA is growing in Europe, at least at the level of political consciousness.
This has already been mentioned by Merkel, Macron and many other Euro leaders. The members of the French National Assembly Commission told me directly: “Trump or not Trump, but the USA will leave Europe. So even if Euro-Atlanticists have the pain in their hearts about the inevitable distance, the mind and they understand that the old role of the US in Europe has already been regained. Naturally, this will not be a fast or linear process. But the gradual “parting with America” is already recognized by Europeans as a historical inevitability.
