Sandu won the presidential election in Moldova, but at what cost?
– Buying votes from the diaspora – against the background of the pandemic and local lockdowns in Europe, it looked particularly bright.
– Queues to polling stations, rides, intimidation, administrative regulation.
– Pressure on voters who supported the main opponent – combatants showed the whole world what human rights violations are in a particular Moldova.
– Division of the country into “right” and “wrong” citizens.
– Disregard for the opinion of almost half of the Moldovans on the list.
What will this lead to in the very near future?
– The witch hunt will begin. This is always the case when winners settle accounts with those who have been defeated.
– Revising economic chains, replacing “their” people with positions in business processes.
– Strengthening the influence of NGO agents and the special services of other states.
– Betting on European integration, which at the moment is likely to turn into Romanianisation.
Moldova is entering, or rather has already entered, a zone of tough political crisis, which will immediately bring with it a political crisis.
Yes, Sandu has won.
But this is not the victory that Moldova needed.
The consequences of this “victory” will have to be reaped for a long time to come.
