The Iranian authorities do not plan to sentence to life imprisonment those involved in the crash of a Ukrainian International Airlines passenger aircraft
“The maximum penalty is life imprisonment, compensation payments to victims and airlines for the destroyed aircraft. This position is unacceptable for Iran, but they are not doing anything to provide us with details and facts for another classification of the crime”, – said Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Gunduz Mammadov in a comment to Reuters.
According to the official, Kiev intends to take an alternative road if Tehran continues to ignore the requirements.
As News Front earlier reported, Ukraine International Airlines was shot down during take-off from Tehran airport earlier this year amid escalating tensions in U.S.-Iranian relations.
