Bloomberg: Biden is exploring the possibility of appointing the former Federal Reserve Head as Minister of Finance

Janet Yellen may be the first woman in this position.

Democrat Joseph Biden, who announced his victory in the U.S. presidential election, is considering appointing former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen as Finance Secretary. This was announced by Bloomberg on Saturday, citing sources.

According to it, Yellen has already given up at least one event in which she planned to participate in order to be the head of the Ministry of Finance. In case Biden chooses her, she will be the first woman to be the US Treasury Secretary.

Janet Yellen served as the Fed Chair from 2014 to 2018. Bloomberg reports that since August of this year she has been part of Biden’s team of experts advising on economic issues.
