He will be briefed by experts, said Jen Psaki, former head of the US Department of State’s press office.
Democrat Joseph Biden, who is predicted by leading media to have become the elected president of the United States, still does not have access to American intelligence, will be briefed next week by national security experts. This was announced on Friday by former U.S. Department of State Press Officer Jen Psaki, who is now an advisor to the policy transition team.
Next week the Democrat will “hear briefings from a number of national security experts,” she said. “We want to be able to get intelligence information, threat assessments, information about ongoing work on COVID-19,” said Psaki. “There are increasing concerns every day that our national security team, elected president and elected vice president do not have access to threat assessments, intelligence briefings and the latest information on our country’s international cooperation,” she said.
According to Psaki, Biden intends to take steps next week to “engage with Democrats and Republicans, leaders of both parties in Washington and beyond. These consultations will focus in particular on measures to stimulate the American economy. The Democrat Staff Councillor has not answered the question whether Biden intends to speak to Mitch McConnell, the Republican majority leader in the US Senate.
According to Psaki, Biden “held a meeting with advisors” this week to discuss the “appointment of staff” that could be part of the future Democrat administration.
The general election in the US took place on 3 November. According to estimates by leading American media, Biden garnered the support of more than 270 voters whose votes are needed to defeat incumbent American leader Donald Trump in his fight for the presidency. Biden announced that he had won the election. Trump, who is running for a second term, did not accept defeat and announced his decision to go to the courts regarding the counting of votes, because he believes that there were numerous violations during the election on the part of Democrats.
