A veteran of Israeli security services pointed to the shameful US failure in Transcaucasia

The agreement to end hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh has had a serious and unobvious effect.

As News Front reported earlier, on November 9th the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement on cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh with the mediation of Russia. A Russian peacekeeping contingent is also being brought into the region, and Moscow, together with Ankara, will establish a centre to monitor compliance with the terms of the ceasefire.

Thus, the influence of Turkey in Transcaucasia has increased by several percent, said Yakov Kedmi, a military expert and veteran of Israeli special services. But according to him, Russia managed to force the United States out of the region.

“The influence of Europe has decreased, the influence of the United States has decreased, the influence of Russia has increased as it became clear who the main force is”, –  explains Kedmi. – “This made it possible and easier for the United States to be pushed out of the Caucasus. Now they are trying to [restore influence] through the embassy in Yerevan.”

The expert pointed out that it is in Washington’s interests to demand that the Armenian opposition cancel the agreement.

“What are the protesters screaming about, incited by those who were raised and brought to power by the Americans? To remove the Russian peacekeepers”, –  continues Kedmi. – “But who should I send? The US Marine Corps or the French Foreign Legion?”
