Two Houthi boats destroyed near a floating platform in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia reported the destruction of two boats loaded with explosives launched from Yemen by Ansar Allah rebels near a floating oil distribution platform. The Saudi News Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday, citing sources in the Kingdom’s Ministry of Energy.

According to it, a fire broke out at a floating station off the coast of the province of Jizzan, according to preliminary reports, no casualties were reported. The fire has been eliminated. According to the agency, the boats were controlled remotely.

In Yemen, the confrontation between government forces and the Houthi has continued since August 2014. The confrontation has entered its most active phase with the invasion of the country in March 2015 by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia. The conflict, which has been going on for over five years, has created the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. According to the UN, more than 24 million Yemenis – about 80% of the country’s population – need humanitarian assistance and the number of internal refugees exceeds 3 million.
