Twitter management has identified around 300,000 misinformed messages about the US elections

These are materials posted on the social network from 27 October to 11 November 2020.

Twitter management has provided more than 300,000 publications on the US elections with notes on possible misinformation content. A statement to this effect was published on Thursday by the security service on Twitter.

“Approximately 300,000 tweets were tagged <…> for containing questionable and allegedly misleading data”, –  the social network management said in a statement. According to him, these are publications posted on Twitter from 27 October to 11 November this year. In total, about 0.2 percent of the total number of election tweets were marked.

Almost 500 of the 300,000 tweets marked were accompanied by explanatory messages from Twitter management. However, the social network security services restricted the ability to “retweet” and comment on these publications.

In September, Facebook and Twitter agreed to fight possible attempts to influence the electoral process in the USA on social media platforms of the same name. This included preventing attempts to use these platforms to post election information from unconfirmed sources, as well as cyber attacks on campaign headquarters and other structures related to the election process.
