According to Alex Azar, the US Secretary of Health and Human Services, this includes investing in the development of tests, vaccines and therapeutic agents.
The measures proposed by Democrat Joseph Biden to combat the Coronavirus pandemic differ little from those already being taken by the current Donald Trump administration. This opinion was expressed on Thursday on CNN by US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar.
He was asked why key employees coordinating the fight against the spread of the virus in the USA have not yet established contact with the Democrat environment, who, according to forecasts by leading American media, won the presidential election.
“It is important for Americans to know that [former] Vice President Biden’s Coronavirus plan is terribly reminiscent of our plan, which we have implemented before and are implementing now. They said that we needed personal protective equipment, we produced it”, – Azar said.
“They said that we need tests. In November alone we provided over 120 million tests, 70 million of which allow us to quickly find out the result. They said that we need to invest in the development of vaccines and therapeutic agents, we have spent billions [of dollars] on this, we have provided Americans with vaccines and therapeutic agents”, – the minister said.
“Of course, if there is a transfer of power [to the new administration], we will do everything we can to make it happen professionally, in a collaborative atmosphere”, – Azar added.
The general elections in the USA took place on 3 November. According to estimates by leading American media, Biden secured the support of more than 270 voters, whose votes he needed to defeat Trump in the fight for the presidency. Biden announced that he had won the election. Trump, who was running for a second term, did not admit defeat and announced his decision to go to the courts regarding the counting of votes because he believed that there had been numerous violations during the election by the Democrats.
