The USA has announced financial support for the upcoming elections in Kyrgyzstan

The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan announced the U.S. Government’s intention, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), to assist in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections “as a sign of support to the Kyrgyz people during the election of their representatives in government”. The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan announced this.

The funds are said to provide “broad support to the Kyrgyz Republic in strengthening its commitment to inclusive, rule-based electoral reforms and public oversight, including changes recommended by the recent OSCE election observation mission”. The funds will also be used to support the Central Election Commission in conducting presidential and parliamentary elections in accordance with democratic standards and legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“USAID has been supporting the Kyrgyz Republic in building an independent democratic state since the early 1990s. Today we reaffirm our commitment to help the Kyrgyz government, its people and civil society groups, which include ordinary citizens, to protect democratic institutions, support human rights and hold free and fair elections”, –  the Embassy said. – “The United States looks forward with optimism to a new era of transparent democratic governance, a vibrant civil society and fair elections in the Kyrgyz Republic that will contribute to political stability and economic prosperity.”
