The Washington Post reported that Texas was the first state to exceed 1 million cases of coronavirus infections in the USA.
The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections in the USA exceeded the record high level of 140,000 per day since the beginning of the pandemic and amounted to 145,835. This was reported by The Washington Post on Wednesday.
According to the publication, within about one week, the daily increase in the number of coronavirus infections in the country rose from 104,000 to more than 145,000. For example, 136,325 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in the USA on Tuesday, which was the previous record. A total of 121,888 cases were confirmed on 5 November, 126,480 on 6 November, 128,412 on 7 November and 105,927 on 8 November. This figure has exceeded 100,000 new cases in the country for nine consecutive days. The previous peak occurred on 30 October.
The number of deaths due to coronavirus in the past 24 hours was 1,549 (the highest since mid-May), 64,000 people were hospitalised across the country.
Texas was the first state to have more than 1 million coronavirus cases.
According to Johns Hopkins University, which counts on the basis of information from international organizations, federal and local authorities, more than 10.3 million cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the United States and more than 241,000 people have died. The country ranks first in the world by both indicators.
